SPEED CAMP

Back by popular demand, Susan Wade will make us FAST again. If you’re not in a training program now for running or speed, this is an excellent camp (that’s code for get off the couch and GET IN SHAPE). This has help many players with field speed, but most importantly, has been the best injury prevention program we’ve had.

Speed Camp is optional, but I highly recommend it. Start dates are December 6th and January 5th. Information and registration is at www.got2getfast.com/Lacrosse.html . You can register for one or both.

Please register ASAP so we can plan for the number of players. This is a great camp for new players and returning. If money is an issue, please let me know as we can arrange some club scholarships (email me).

Susan’s contact info for questions is: Susan Wade, 208.949.5401, Susan@Got2GetFast.com

U17 Utah

Friends of All-Idaho Girls U-17’s:

I’m pleased to announce Tryouts for the 2009 All-Idaho team for the Park City Shoot-out. All the info is here; please read all the way through and contact me if you have questions.

Please DO forward this message to girls who are interested (and eligible; see below)
If you received this message from a friend and want to be on the mailing list, send e-mail to jeanrussell@cableone.net

You can be on more than one tournament team this spring/summer. All-Idaho doesn’t require that you be “exclusive,” but you must honor all commitments you make.

By trying out, you’re committing yourself to the team if you are selected. So please don’t try out if you aren’t sure you can go. There will be a make-up tryout scheduled later in April, for those of you who are trying out for other things too.

Here’s the entire scoop on the Park City trip:

All-Idaho Lacrosse is a separate group from TVYLL (Treasure Valley Youth Lacrosse League), but many of the people are the same. I’ve been “deputized” to get U-15 and U-17 girls teams put together if there is enough interest. I’m the main contact for girls; Maggie Williams and LeAnn Hume are the head honchos over everything.

All-Idaho is a totally volunteer outfit, providing tournament opportunities for young lacrosse players who don’t have other options to play (for example, through Team Idaho, which is a separate group).

The tournament of choice for 2009 All-Idaho U-15 and U-17 teams is the Park City Shoot-out, Park City, Utah, June 18-20. Please visit the web site: http://www.utahlax.org/Events/Park_City_Ski_Town_Shootout.htm

Costs will be quite reasonable for an out-of-town adventure. Each player will be responsible for just $75 plus their own transportation and lodging. There are group rates at assorted hotels, and there will be carpooling. TVYLL is contributing equipment, resources and some money. There will be fund-raising opportunities and limited scholarships.

The schedule is: drive to Park City on the 18th, play 4 games on the 19th and 20th, finish in time to drive home Saturday evening if desired. There are no Sunday games.

We plan to send one team each for U-15 and U-17 girls. If there’s enough interest, more teams could be formed. All-Idaho’s objective is to include as many players as possible.

That said, “interest” means not only players, but also parents who want to manage the teams. All-Idaho doesn’t have any staff for this.

The teams will be formed specifically for the Park City Shoot-out. Once the teams are formed, coaches and parents may consider participating in other tournaments later in the summer. This is not expected or required.

Coaches for the teams will be worked out after the first tryout date, when we know how many teams. Coaches and assistant coaches may be BSU coaches, college players, TVWLL coaches, and/or parents. If you are interested in coaching or want to nominate a coach, please let me know.

The time commitment is pretty reasonable. TVWLL’s season ends on 5/19. You will have practices at your coaches’ discretion for a few weeks, go to the tournament and be done on 6/20.

U-17 players are in the 9th, 10th or 11th grades in the current school year. The Park City Shoot-out is not using birth date cutoffs this year.

The main tryout is Monday, April 27th from 4:30 to 6:00 at Ann Morrison Park. Please try your best to make it to this one, but a make-up tryout will be scheduled, TBD.

Participation and waiver forms, and a $75 deposit, are required to try out. I will send the forms out next week. Please arrive at your tryout with the forms completed and a check for $75 made out to All-Idaho Lacrosse. If you’re not selected for the team, your check and paperwork will be destroyed.

Here we go! See you at tryouts,

Jean Russell
